Time is a Spiral: We Inherit More Than We Know
There are moments when the past reaches through the veil of time and touches the present. We may think it’s here to haunt us, but I know it’s here to invite us into deeper awareness.
Yesterday, I found myself spiraling through one of those moments.
I was texting with a friend about a memory, a date and suddenly, it all connected. The date of someone’s divorce, the echoes of family history, and a phrase that emerged without planning:
“Time is a spiral and NOT linear.”
And with it came an epiphany I couldn’t unsee.

Dates as Portals
We often think of time as a line like a straight march from past to present to future. But what if time is more like a spiral? Always cycling, always returning, but never exactly the same.
In this spiral model, dates become portals: recurring energetic placeholders that invite us back, year after year, to touch the same thread, but at a different octave. We’re not repeating the past exactly, we’re meeting it again with more awareness, more wisdom, more heart.
And the important part: every cycle brings an opportunity to heal, release, or reclaim something we couldn’t before.
What if the reason we feel so deeply around anniversaries (good or bad) is because dates are energetic placeholders?
They’re not just lines on a calendar.
They’re portals, entry points in the spiral of time, that bring us back to the same place again and again. In repetition and revelation. Each time, we’re invited to touch the memory from a new vantage point. With more experience. More grace. More readiness.
Every year, the spiral returns us to the scene. Maybe consciously, but probably more frequently a bit below the surface. But it’s not here to torment us, but to show us:
What’s still here?
What has changed?
What are we still carrying?

Spirals of Inheritance
As I write these words, “Bad Blood” is on the radio now. And something landed even deeper. We don’t just walk our own spiral.
We inherit spirals from our parents, too. From our ancestors. From the unspoken agreements in our family line.
The blood we carry is not just biological, it’s energetic. It’s memory. It’s emotion. It’s frequency. It’s imprint.
We inherit the emotional spirals too, unresolved grief, patterns of self-worth, cycles of scarcity or fear, just as much as the dimples in a smile or the shape of a jaw.
Each year, each cycle, we’re not just reliving our own story. We’re living out the spirals of those who came before us. Until we don’t. Until we choose differently.
So every transit, every anniversary, every date that pulls something up, it’s not just about this moment. It’s a thread in the greater web of healing. One we’re either reweaving or repeating.
We inherit beliefs, burdens, and blueprints.
We inherit the grief they couldn’t speak and the stories they didn’t finish.
We inherit their spirals, the unresolved ones and the redeemed ones. Wisdom being passed on and unfinished business, too.
We’re walking a thread in that larger pattern. Until we become aware. Until we choose differently. Until we consciously lay something down and say:
This one ends with me.
🌞 The Cosmic Assignment
And if time is a spiral, then the solar transits are our cosmic curriculum.
Every year, we walk the same wheel, the same calendar, the same spiral path. And as we do, the Sun activates specific archetypes (Gene Keys, Human Design gates, and I Ching hexagrams). These aren’t just random patterns, they’re invitations. Assignments. Illuminations.
The Sun, in its brilliance, shines a spotlight on what we’re collectively evolving through. It’s revealing the shadow frequencies we’re here to acknowledge, the gifts we’re being asked to embody, and the siddhis we’re learning to glimpse. This isn’t just astrology, it’s awareness. It’s soul-mapping. It’s walking the spiral with intention.
By tuning into these solar transits, we begin to see the resonant rhythm of our own life reflected in the greater dance of the cosmos. We walk the year with mindfulness. We meet our inner archetypes as living teachers. And we spiral forward, not in repetition… but in revelation.

Accumulation or Alchemy?
In the spiral of time, we’re not doomed to carry what was. These dates aren’t traps, they are invitations. To gather data, feel what arises, and ask:
- Am I still carrying this?
- Do I add to the weight or set it down?
- Does this belief still belong to me?
- Shall I repeat this story?
- Do I use this moment to release, rewrite, an reclaim?
Time, in this spiral form, isn’t a trap. It’s a gift.
A box we return to each year. Not to stay stuck in the past, but to let go, to upgrade, to heal.
The spiral accumulates wisdom, not just wounds.

✨ A Reflection & Invitation for You
What’s returning to you right now?
A pattern?
A date?
An emotion that feels strangely familiar?
What if it’s not here to break you, but to free you?
What if you’re not going in circles, but ascending a spiral?
This is the miracle of time as a spiral. The past isn’t behind you. It’s beneath you, building the foundation for who you are becoming.
And you? You are the one who gets to decide how the story evolves from here.
We can do this together.
If you’ve been carrying something heavy (a feeling that’s hard to name, a story that feels unfinished, or an inner voice that’s been quiet for too long) I invite you to join the next Mute to Muse session.
It’s a guided space where we pause, reflect, and give voice to what’s been hidden beneath the surface. You’ll be gently led through prompts, journaling, and creative expression to help you move from emotional weight to embodied insight.
No pressure to share. Just a space to reconnect with yourself, your truth, and the wisdom inside the spiral.
